About

Gildern publishes practical guidance for people making decisions about their homes, starting with heating and cooling.

These guides are written for the person who has to make the decision and pay for it, not for the trade. They cover decisions that are expensive, infrequent, and hard to reverse — and difficult to judge without knowing what to look for.

Gildern is built around decisions about the home. The guides published so far focus on heating and cooling.

How these articles are made

Each article is researched against primary sources — manufacturers, standards bodies, and government agencies — and drafted with AI assistance. Every draft is then checked against its sources and approved by a named person before it is published. Nothing here is published automatically.

Each published page corresponds to one specific approved version of the article. When we change something material, that produces a new version, and it is approved again before it replaces what you were reading.

We list the sources for each article so you can check them yourself. When the available evidence does not support a clear answer, our editorial process is designed to make that uncertainty clear.

What this site does not do right now

We are starting deliberately small: a limited set of articles, one subject area, and a plan to learn from what is actually useful before publishing more.

This site carries no advertising, no affiliate links, and no sponsored placements. We are not paid by anyone whose products these articles discuss. We have no user accounts or sign-in.

Corrections
